Well, at 150k, I just replaced these. The fronts had started making an interesting grating noise when turning the wheel. The little ball bearings in the tables had gotten out of round to some degree, I suspect, since cleaning them and the races had no effect on the sound. On the rear, I was getting a bit of movement from the top of the strut on one side, and when it was out I figured I might as well go 4 for 4 and did the other side too, which still looked ok after removal, so it is now on the shelf as an last use spare.
Also replaced the passenger side ball joint, while taking out struts anyway, and wish now I had just gone ahead and done the driver side one at the same time, since it will now surely start going any time, the way these things normally work.
Oh, and again replaced the parking brake cables, well, 2 out of 3. The cross over to the passenger side was still fine. That cable design is hopeless. This is my 3rd set.
First pile of serious repairs in a while, so I suppose I should not complain. About $350 worth of parts, Canadian dollars, not including the broken spring on the front driver side that got me started on the whole thing. Not a sound left in the suspension now though, for the moment, anyway.
