Upgrading positive & negative wires on SHO

I looked but am not sure what is what....I got some 2GA I want to install instead of the factory stuff....

I was hoping to just unhook the oem cables and opo on the new ones.

I am not sure what I need to upgrade for the alternator...

I dont want to fry something so If someone can identify the correct wires that would be great...or tell me what goes where...


this is for the alternator and battery so I can install my stereo....right now limping along on 1 amp and no sub

If this helps , Mine is 4GA oxygenless Stereo wire 8-9 feet is req'd.

I passed my ground in that way , catching the intake and back to the body. That way I eliminated the braided ugly intake to groung wire located in the back of the intake. It ends with a copper fitting.

The Plus cable is going straight to the starter , installed a copper fitting on this one too.

yeah that helps on the neg side of things...I got 4 ga as well not 2...

my concern is the positive but I guess if I get under car I can see whats going on with Positive cable..

I know there is a cable coming off the alternator...I take it thats the power wire...

I just dont want to fry any electrical wires and have to re-wire it....

All you need to do is run a piece of 2 ga from your battery to a good body ground, and also to the stud/nut at the back of the intake to ground the car better.. Then run your 2 ga power line back for your amps and whetever else you have in the back.

DO NOT use stereo wiring to hook your batt. to your starter/alt. . Notice the difference in wire between your stock and the stereo stuff in terms of the sheilding. Stereo wiring should only be used away from the heat of the engine. The wiring for the alt. and starter are fine as they are. I have 3 12" subs off of a JBL powervalve (1200 watts RMS)amp and a 600 watt RMS amp for my highs. I am running 0 ga. wire, and all I did was run the ground to the battery and engine block, then run my power wire back to my distribution block for my caps and amps. hope this helps.

thanks, I am using actual battery cable for the battery wires...Not using amp cables for battery hookup...

I will change out the negative and not mess with starter or alternator for now.
