Air horns are meant to be left on trucks and trains...

As I've learned in my bus driving training, always yield the right of way. Other drivers should never be trusted to make the right decisions.

Personally I would search on ebay for some good horns, mount the compressor remotely and run the lines. I got a full set of 7 airhorns from a old Santa Fe F3 and they each were rated at close to 190-200db. I mounted them underneith my buddy's 72 F150 and the more you opened the valve on the air line the louder it was. They are fun.

I actually bought a train horn system for my car this week. It comes tomorrow and by monday im gonna have some vids posted... They are awesome toys but, like a lot have said, they are not ment to be used all the time. It can be a very dangerous distraction on the roadway.

FWIW, this is what i bought... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...RK:MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=130070289319&rd=1,1

I talked to a guy who works for Siege Engineering and he told me this system, at 110PSI will output around 160 decibels of horn!

Where are you going to fit the horns and the air tank?

When I had my jeep I had some cheap $50 air horns on there, but there was plenty of room under the hood with 4.0 there to fit them in no problems.

I installed a Whelen Power Airhorn PAH112 and a 100w speaker on my SHO. It is the same as a squad car siren but has only the air horn part and it is loud as ****:thumb: . It was a bit expesxive but Whelen equipment is bullit proof and will probably out last the car.

**edit: I forgot to mention that I have a two way switch under the dash that allows me to switch between the factory horn and the Whelen horn.**

Im gonna put the tank in the trunk and im gonna mount the horns either on the side of the rad. support, on the engine support bar, or up under the rear bumper... This is not going in my SHO in case you are wondering...

When I first read your post I was wondering where would you be able to fit a train horn. Those aren't actuall train horns. Back in the day when I was doing mobile dj service we had an actuall train horn from a real train engine. The main horn was over 3' long and the bell was about the size of a trombone. The smaller one was about 2' long and had a bell about 6" in dia. We ran them off a 150 psi compressor with a 1/2" id supply line. Couldn't stand to blow them without ear protection.:nut:

Even with those your gonna scare the !@#$# out of someone.

i'm going to have to call BS or false advertising on these 200dB horns. reasons:

so basically a 200 dB horn is above the sound barrier. unlikely.
dB (SPL) Source (with distance)
194 Theoretical limit for a sound wave at 1 atmosphere environmental pressure; pressure waves with a greater intensity behave as shock waves.
188 Space Shuttle liftoff as heard from launch tower (less than 100 feet) (source: acoustical studies [1] [2]).
180 Krakatoa volcano explosion at 1 mile (1.6 km) in air [3]
160 M1 Garand being fired at 1 meter (3 ft); Space Shuttle liftoff as heard from launch pad perimeter (approx. 1500 feet) (source: acoustical studies [4] [5]).
150 Jet engine at 30 m (100 ft)
140 Low Calibre Rifle being fired at 1m (3 ft); the engine of a Formula One car at 1 meter (3 ft)
130 Threshold of pain; civil defense siren at 100 ft (30 m)
120 Space Shuttle from three mile mark, closest one can view launch. (Source: acoustical studies) [6] [7]. [Train horn]] at 1 m (3 ft). Many foghorns produce around this volume.
110 Football stadium during kickoff at 50 yard line; chainsaw at 1 m (3 ft)
100 Jackhammer at 2 m (7 ft); inside discothèque
90 Loud factory, heavy truck at 1 m (3 ft), kitchen blender
80 Vacuum cleaner at 1 m (3 ft), curbside of busy street, PLVI of city
70 Busy traffic at 5 m (16 ft)
60 Office or restaurant inside
50 Quiet restaurant inside
40 Residential area at night
30 Theatre, no talking
20 Whispering
10 Human breathing at 3 m (10 ft)
0 Threshold of human hearing (with healthy ears); sound of a mosquito flying 3 m (10 ft) away
