Used SMD led 194's inside the car. Very easy to install. Also did the puddle lamps and waiting for bulbs for the license plate. Now the car matches the front lamps and the white strips on the front of the car.

Sorry for not posting pics. There was another thread about this. When the job is completely finished with the license plate bulbs changed, I'll take some.

sorry for my ignorance, but I must not be using the proper search terms. I have searched for led upgrade, led 194, light upgrade. puddle lamp upgrade, and am only finding a deleted topic started by bpd1151, but he has deleted all of his posts in every topic.

Do you have a link to thread you are referring to?

I'm definitely doing this. I want some bright lights though. I think yours are pretty bright but in some of the interior pics the rear looks a little dim?
Anyways what exact type of bulb did you use for the rear plates?

SMD led 194's inside. Trust me, don't let the pictures fool you. Very bright. You can also upgrade to some with 9 smds which are a little taller and could possibly cause clearance issues. That is what my car had throughout the interior. I've heard some have the festoon type in the dome lamp, but mine was the 194. The manual didn't even give the correct bulb type.

Nice thanks for the link! Yep I saw in the original how to thread on he was using 9 LED bulbs for the interior. I guess older Sho's can fit them but they changed the compartments for the bulbs to be shorter sometime after November. Gonna go check the build date on mine! lol Thanks again.

Well I lucked out and mine was built 7/09...meaning the compartments the bulbs are in a little larger and can fit the 9 LED bulbs. (To clarify, I guess it was found Sho's built after 11/09 have less clearance for the bulbs for w/e reason) I however found 15 LED bulbs that are the same size so not sure if I'll get those instead. The 9 LED bulbs come in a 6k white while the 15 LED bulbs (on a different site) say 8500k...might be to blue.
So I have two questions...
For the license plate lights are they the same as the interior? 5 LED 194 bulbs?
And what color temperature did you get? The 6k ones?

Thanks!

The license plate lights are 39mm festoon type. Bright white. 1.5 inches long. As many leds as you want. I prefer it not too bright on the plate. Just doesn't look right.

Yeah I agree on the plate, I won't go crazy there. You threw me off with the festoon type bulbs as the manual says they're 168. I can't seem to find any festoon type bulbs that state they replace 168. Ugh searching down what exact bulbs I need is getting frustrating! lol

Did you upgrade the tail lights also? If so, what bulbs were used and were there any issues with the changeout?

Nope, didn't touch the tail lamps or back up lights. Doesn't bother me that much.

Have you been having any problems with these leaking?? First off the bulb doesn't fit and is a bit longer, so you have to bend back the connectors to get them in. Anyways I got them in and looked pretty good...a tad to blue but w/e..definitely better than stock!

After a month or so they started going out randomly. Come to find moisture was getting into one and had rusted the connectors out and rather quickly!! Had to order a new housing with reflector (30 bucks) and just put the new reflectors in and they work again. Gonna keep a close eye on them for moisture getting in though. I wonder if the bulb's bigger size is causing them to not seal correctly??
