Ok everyone i need some help. I jacked my car up today to look for an oil leak on my 93ATX. the first thing i saw was oil all on the underside of the oil pan, and it seems that oil was leaking out from around the oil filter. Any advice on what specifically might be the source. I am a newbie at car maintenence, so please beware of my limited knowledge. Thanks everyone.

well I would do that, but the problem is, its not leaking when the car is just sitting there. Its leaking after the engine reaches operating temperature. So tomorow I am going to drive a while and then park and get under there and try to get a better idea of exactly what it its. If it is the front or rear main seal, or the oil pan does anyone have any instructions on how to fix this. Thanks

what you can do is go to a local garage, theyll give you a bottle of flourescent dye (i think its about $5 a bottle) theyll tell you to have the undercarriage washed at a car wash, drive it, take it back and theyll hit it with a UV light to see where its leaking from. i did that with an old chevy i had where i could not find the leak for the life of me. i had a similiar problem as you have with an older dodge daytona when i was 17, i scraped up the oil pan bad and when the car heated up the metal expanded and ****** all the oil out of the teeny tiny hole. good luck man. but also keep in mind oil spreads and always looks worse than it is, so even though it was all over the floor, as you pointed out, the oil level was still ok so its not dire.

yeah thats a good idea. I know the leak isnt that bad because my oil level is fine. I am not loosing much at all. I am just putting the car up for sale this spring and its not good to try to sell a car with a very obvious oil smell filling the air after a test drive. Anyways thanks for the imput and any other ideas or suggestions please keep them coming. Thanks
