Okay well I am now working on the Gen III Projectors, The first set I am putting together is with a set of FX-R projectors. I will be trying them in both the 35W and 50W configurations with bulbs between 4300K and 6000K to try and find the optimum setup for the Gen III. I have already tried the Morimoto Mini in the D2S configuration with 35W ballast and 4300K bulb and am happy with its performance. I may try the Mini in the H1 configuration or even the Acura TL projector next to test them Any input would be great. S6301336 S6301337

Considering what the outcome of this will be.....projector headlamps for the masses I would not be suprised to see somebody come up with a set.

I have a set of almost new ones laying around i think i might use. Hopefully since they're new the glue will come apart easy.

I get to play with plaster of paris! :angelnot:

Fortunatly the Gen 3 lamps come apart pretty easily and come with the clear lens. I will be playing with mounting this during the week and hopefully have it ready to put in the car by the weekend. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. I have to pick up a new hole saw to use on this one as it needs a bigger hole on the backside compared to doing the
D2S projector I used on my current build. I also need to fabricate the mounts for this one also because of it not being flat on the bottom of the lamp housing, otherwise I could just use a L shaped bracket to mount the bottom of the projector with.

I will be picking up a set of H1 mini's soon for 45$ + 11$ shipping soon. They dont have a shroud or bulbs; but i have bulbs and could care less about the shroud for the test run. IM going to find some plaster sometime this week and start forming the Lens shape sometime soon i hope. Then after that im going to have to go to a friend to have him help me laying the Fiberglass for the vacuum form mold. Thanks for the kid in the butt Calvin should have this lens stuff done by may (i hope :nut:)

Hit matt or andrew up at th retrofit source as they are clearing out the older stock of the mini H1's and can probably cut you a deal on a set of tweaked H1's with the clear lenses. They are selling an updated version of the H1's and have some of the older versions in stock that they are selling for over half off.

Exactly....the D2s uses a bigger hole ...the H1 does not. Slide em in and lock it down, drill the hole for the wires for the high beams and then wire it all up, aim the lights and go.

For anyone interested, if I havent' mentioned it yet I just wanted to point out another option for producing the clear lenses needed for this swap on gen 1/2 SHOs.

How To Make Your Own Plastic Headlight Lenses

Notice that the headlight in this example are very sample in shape to the gen 2 SHO headlights, so it can will definitely work in SHO application.

that is what i shall be doing here in the next few months to produce the clear lenses for us.

Question, should i try and put that support in that splits the turn signal from the HL or just not worry about it? It seams like a butt load of work to make it.

with the setup im running now i didnt worry about because im just using the GTO headlight covers from SHOsource it doesnt look odd. I'll try and grab some pics of what mine look like but the sets im going to be building should look a 10000x's better with the form fit lens.

You could if you wanted to, all you would have to do is insert something into the concrete while it's wet, or just cut the mold where the support is, personally, I'm not going to worry about it. I plan on having a dedicated 35 "low beam" where the turn signal is, if not i will just make a shroud for the turn signal and call it a day.

Let me know the progress of thermo forming aset of lenses, I am banking on making the molds and a plastic forming table this summer so I can get some projectors going myself.

The mold cracked in a few places when i was removing the Lens but i think i can work around it when i fill the air bulbs and start to make my positive to use in vacuum forming the new clear lenses. Should get the other side down tomorrow and then start looking to a friend to help with the Fiberglassing. I Shall keep you'll updated as i move along.
