I'm not really sure, but it seems like there is too much noise coming from under the hood. Can't really describe the sound. Kinda like rattleing ... really fast that is. Also there is a ticking sound that happens every few seconds on a specific interval. It sounds like it's coming from the front of the engine but I'm not sure.

It's sometimes so loud that I can literally hear it inside my house when I have the car heating up. I have never heard a properly running SHO to compare it to so I'm in the dark.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

The loudness might be an exhaust leak or a loose belt. do you smell fumes under the hood?

The ticking is either your injectors (good tick) or your valves (bad tick). If it gets louder when you remove the oil fill cap, then its time for a 60K!

Yeah, sometimes I do smell fumes but I think that is from the car running too rich. I believe the O2 sensors need replacing.

I wouldn't be surprised if the car needs a 60k done to it. It's getting near 100k and I'm pretty sure that the complete kit has ever been done to it, just parts of it at different times. But I don't know.

Hahahaha. Can't be looking for a new car for a while. I hope that when I turn 18, my choice of trading it in on a different SHO will be mine, but until then, my SHO stays with me.

Actually, a tick by the injectors could be a good tick or a bad tick depending on how loud the tick is. A lower tick is just the injectors firing obviously, but a louder tick would be a clogged injector. Although not really that bad of a tick as it is easily fixed. Ticking valves aren't necessarily bad either. Some people have said that the ticking got louder after their 60k. Just my .02

Yeah...I've got lots of valve tick AND gearbox chatter...join the club. Always on warmup, diminishes as it heats.
