Unplug MAF = power!!!!

So, i've been doing some reading using the search function in an attempt to find why my car was lean on both banks. EEC was producing only two codes: Lean Left and Lean Right banks. Also it was slow in general, every day driving but on the highway it had no power at all! Every time, just after WOT i'd get a blinking CEL that would eventually go away. So, my car needs 60K pretty bad anyways but this is a relatively new problem. Could be anything right? I'm gonna change O2's and electronics on the MAF immediately. Sound good or should i do somehtin more drastic? Also my exhaust tips are all black and sooty inside! rant

If the car runs better with the maf unplugged then the maf is faulty. Try spray cleaning the electrodes inside the maf with electronic cleaner and see if that fixes it. If not, you may need a new unit.

Well, well, well... guess what i found! POWER! Well, not all of it but a substantial chunk. I had a looksee at my nostrils inside my intake and found my EGR nostrils plugged. The left one was 120% and right hole 50% at best. So, i cleaned them out and Voila! More power! I've still got power issures because when i floor it, the powerband planes off for about 2seconds before the power kicks in. When it does, its not so impressive. Cleaning of the nostrils def. made an improvement though!

That's good. Did you clean the filaments in the MAF? Keep at it.

Yep, i sure did! i couldn't remove the electronics because i didn't have the 'safety' Torx driver. So, i removed the screen and got at it from there! I'm gonna take it on a highway run now! Here comes another donation to the forum! thumb pizza beer beer beer beer

eek! WOW.I just can't believe it! Around town she's dogging a bit still but on the highway... she screams. Its almost like i can't give it enough gas sooooo fast! and NO check engine light. Looks like 60K is all i need to pep things up a bit city!
