Would covering the botom of the car, in the places that would allow it, with a plastic material (for example- http://cgi.ebay.com/Roll-of-Clear-V...ryZ20594QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ) help with drag coeffecient? Basically giving it a F1 treatment. The only parts that would still be exposed would be the subframe, exhaust channel (most of it), and the rear suspension. The rest would be smooth. Or would if be too small of a gain, and a waste of time, money and effort?

Just thinking about it....

Very creative thinking - however - YES a waste of time, money and effort.
There are lots of proven performance enhancements that you should look at first. Y-Pipe, BBB's, Maf, etc. Losing weight is also a huge help, but you have to keep function in mind. I know a couple of fully stripped cars (like 500# removed) but I wouldn't want to use them as a daily driver.

The biggest benefit would probably covering the exposed area by the spare tire well/ back bumper. If you cut out the spare tire well to save weight, you would create a pocket for air to get caught. On the Z the rear muffler is designed to keep air out of that pocket, and when people get new exausts they remove the muffler. Some of them put in a carbon fiber diffuser which acts to cover the pocket so air doesn't get caught. Even on the front of the z there is a plastic cover that would sit where the subframe is now on the sho. It makes it "smooth" from front bumper to about the firewall. Your sho would probably have to be pretty low to get any effect and it would be really hard to measure any improvement. But for $17 its worth a shot.
