Hammer the top of the allen holes , then hammer your allen back in for a really tight fit.

That trick never failed me.

Helicoil, it's not a hack fix, it's a standard method of putting strong steel threads into aluminum. It works great for repairing stripped bolts, too.

True , even brand new 302 alu intakes or heads comes with helicoils already in them.

Supposebly helicoil is stronger then any stock threads (in alu).

Stay away from the Heli-Coil and go with EZ-LOK instead. Much simpler to install and this is coming from experiencing the same thing you are. You're looking for a M6 X 1.5mm thread pitch insert.

Plenty of meat there. I used the regular inserts but thin walls are fine. As long as the hole for the insert itself stays around the 8mm range, it should be fine as far as holding up.

The reason I like these is because they are solid inserts and easy to install. And they work. With Heli-Coils, you need the tool to insert it and break off the tang. These thread in with a regular screw driver. And sometimes the Heli-Coils have backed out on me. These don't because they're coated with Loctite.

Reviving this due to im experiencing the same prop with a striped bolt in my timing cover..im losing oil like mad tired of buying oil and the mess and smoke...i tried an ez out and said scew it..so now im paying for it. I plan on drilling out the bolt.... im not sure if to use heli coil or the ez lock. Like stated ez lock looks easier but which kit should i get. Someone point me the right direction here. Need this fixed asap.
