I purchased a 1994 MTX Sho with 85000 miles. the turn signals worked fine when i purchased and worked fine for about two months. However the emergency flashers did not work. Drove home one day, one turn the signals were working, one they werent and havent for a few days. the sidemarkers still turn on bright as ****.I checked the fuse and it is fine. I have a buddy who had a 1992 MTX and he had the same problem. Has anyone experienced this and if so , help me out! Thanks alot you guys.

I think you need a new multifunction switch. This is the stalk that protrudes from the left side of your steering column. This switch commonly craps the bed in SHOs. It happened to me in both my older 89 and current 92. You can purchase a new one from AutoZone for about $45.00; it's a special order item so realize it will take a few days. I would skip buying a used one and purchase a new switch.

I have the exact same problem,

When I bought my SHO (3 weeks ago) the blinkers all worked but the arrows on the dash blinked like crazy. A few days later the blinkers and hazards didnt work at all.

Im going to take the switch apart first and try cleaning it, i noticed the hazard button is kind of syrupy.

My 94 does similar things but only when it's really cold out. Last week when it was -30C half my electronics, (right turn signal, any of the high sterio controls, etc) wouldn't work. As soon as the interior temp is about 20C they start working again.....

Ford...makes ya wonder sometimes.....

my multifunction switch is acting up also. how do you change it? does the steering wheel have to come off? I can't figure how to get the panel off with the key tab there. I know there must be a trick and who else to ask but you guys. I think the hazard switch is causing all the problems.

ive never done it but i remember reading a thread about it. it sounds pretty straightforward, i dont think you need to take the steering wheel off

to temp fix mine i played w/ my hazard switch for a while (ie push in and out simutaneously, clean it up a little) then my blinkers worked

So who knows, mabe a search will bring the info your lookin for up

Disconnect the battery. There are three screws holding the column cover on. Take these out. Put the key in run and there is a hole you push up with a pin and release. Then pull the ignition cylinder out. The MFS has two torx screws holding it in place and two electrical connections.

Once out pop the end off the stalk and clean out the grease. There is a contact disk with 4 contacts on it. Clean this and lightly sand the little bumps on the contacts.

Then using WD 40 or something similar, liberally douse the switch and work it repeatedly. Work the E flasher button. Then dry and reinstall.
