My 99' was involved in a collision (was cut off by an inattentive driver) last month and the front end sustained the brunt of the impact. My hood, header panel, bumper, headlight bucket, radiator support bracket, AC condensor were all damaged.

On the way to the body shop to drop it off for repairs I noticed the turn signals were not working. Now the shop is reporting not only the turn signals not working, but the dash lights as well. They've checked all the fuses and are "scratching their heads" They've now scheduled to take it to a local Ford dealer and I'm wondering what the cause could be.

I sure this can be crash related, but any ideas what else may cause this condition? I appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

Have them investigate the DRL module or bypass shunt if there's no module. It's above and in front of the LF tire, behind the splash shield.

I'm not familiar with the acronym DRL. What is it? Thanks for the reply.

I had the EXACT same symptoms:
you probably need a new multi-function switch.

Really? This would be my third one. I've already had it replaced once for the mysterious, intermittent "wiper" problem. And I thought my SHO had those moisture sensing wipers that sweep automatically like a Mercedes....... right!!!

Thanks for the reply.

yep.
I posted about it here. It was about a year ago.
Some advice given was to clean the contacts, IIRC. I will try to find the thread...
I was still under warranty, so I had it replaced.

er... I couldn't find it... maybe THAT advice about cleaning the contacts was given when I had similar symptoms with the headlight switch.
I still say you need a new multifunction switch...

I had good luck taking the MFS out and drenching it with WD 40 while working the all the switch's actions. Also took off the end cap off and cleaned this out adding a dab of Vaseline when I was done.

Well its going to the Ford dealer today. I'll let you folks know what I find. Now I won't be shocked if they tell me the MFS! I really appreciate your replies. :thumb:

If it's the MFS any chance it could be tied in with the accident?

I don't think it's likely. I'm guessing it's something more simple than the MFS, like a bulb or something. We'll see what they say.

And the winner is........................................

MFS!!!! :salute:

I also noticed that the Ford dealer took the liberty of adding the splash shield for the front springs, per the recall.
