I'm working on my 95 mtx, trying to get everything done b/4 the 2000 mile roundtrip to NH. Pretty stupid to be doing all this stuff to a 15 year old car just prior to a long road trip, but such is as it is!

I'm having issues with the turnsignals, but all the fuses are good? I'm going to look at the MFS but wanted to get any feedback from you all b/4 starting to dig. Also swapped a gold top battery back into the 95 from the Tbird and it died shortly after (over the 4th of July weekend). Also tore out the console and disconnected a bunch of nokia hands free phone crap, cut some wires, capped off the hot ones but not before blowing a fuse. I tracked that one down but it was not the turnsigneal fuse even though it had apparently knocked the turn signals out at that time.

I'll be starting the dig this week and this coming weekend, got a car audio guy coming over Sunday morning. What is the sequence for troubleshooting this problem? (please). Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Dug out the electronic flasher (behind the stearing column cover) and replaced it with no change.

When the multi-switch is moved (turn signal activated) there's NOTHING!

No indicators, no external lights no side marker, however the emergency flashers work fine!

Please someone give me some assistance in diagnosing this b/4 I have to drive 2000 mile roundtrip for the convention.

TIA
:sun:

Thanks for the feedback gents...

Emergency flashers do work.

you can try to replace the whole multifunction switch, just a thought
I can't think of anything else at this point. I'm not electrically savy enough to sort through the wiring/troubleshooting manual I have (sort of a waste to own if you can't understand it!). However, I thought that manual said there was but one electronic flasher for both emergency and turns, maybe I misunderstood.

I have never successfully unsprung the lock cylinder to remove the shroud, to get to the MFS though... I know you're supposed to stab in a pin underneath the column and voila it slides right out, but stab as I might I have yet to hit the hole ... I guess...?

I suppose I could just use hand signals...

Nah, get a pick or something fairly thin.. press up on that hole.. keep pressure and somewhere between off and on that cylnder will pop out of there. Just turn it back and forth and you should feel it give a little..

And yea I think your right about the 1 flasher... so the circuit is good from there anyway..

Thanks, I had never had it demonstrated b/4, popped it out and after some negotiating got the shrouds out of the way and pried the connectors off the MFS, and by MFS I don't mean multi-function switch!

I'll shop it today and try it out tonight. I appreciate the tips.

The MFS are know to get dirty and cause turn signal, wiper problems. The Headlight circuit on G1 & 2s pumps full powers through the headlight switch then through the MFS. A know problem.

Get a new MFS and a headlight harness.

If you are cheap or frugal or economically efficent you can try to clean the MFS. I had good luck by removing mine and throughly dousing it in WD40 whilst working all the functions repeatedly. This will help get rid the dried grease if that is the problem but not for advanced corrosion.

You should also pry off the wiper end cap and carefully remove the small contact "fingers" and clean off the old grease. Regrease with petroleum jelly.

They did the same kind of crap on the trucks too... I ended up replacing a lot to get my brake lights to work.. ended up being the harness side of the headlight switch.. :) One pin was semi loose and caused a bunch of stuff to act up.

Nice find SHOz!! :)

Someone should tag this thread...

MFS FTMFW :thankyou:

Picked up the part at Pep Boys for $42.50. Got it all put back together at lunch.

Thanks for all the help gentlemen. Maybe I'll disassemble it and present it as a "basket case" prize at the convention.

Told you so.

I know...:angelnot:

... I was in denial.

I stuffed my old Pro-M 80mm MAF on over the weekend, it seems to work well, great throttle response. I'll bring the OE box with a new paper filter but I'm really liking the way its running now. It also quit pulling after I exchanged the ES100 to the front and put the new Falkin 912's on the back.

All that remains is getting the plastic parts of the console repainted cause the Mocha Ford put on it is disgusting.
