Well a couple days ago my clutch decided to not disengage any more. pedal feels a little differant but i swapped it out for another unit to see if the adjuster was at fault and it wasent... im thinking its the TOB but it could be the pressure plate as well... it dosent seem fair that you dont cheap out on anything (CM 3, ceramic TOB, aluminum fork bushings etc...) but somthing fails 5000km after it was installed properly and properly broken in. w/e thats what you get for modifying a car! anyways im off to find a reliable 4wd for the winter so im out! and when im back in next spring/summer, expect a nice little 92-95 RX7 with 2 spinny things under the hood!

I know how that feels. My clutch slips. spec stage3, ceramic TOB. Had the flywheel resurfaced, torqued to the proper specs and in the right order. My shit slipped the first time i took it for a drive.

i manuallly adjusted the pedal a fe times up to three clicks and it works but only somtimes. and blaine, i have a new cable sitting around here somewhere i just have to find it... mine dosent slip at all, its been great until now... was very happy with the holding power and positive feel to it. i should prob try to find my new cable and see if thats it, it dosent have any TOB noise either so thats whats so wierd, maybe the cable just streches somtimes... ill try to find the cable after work and gi ve it a shot.

Look up TexanTony's shim fix for the quadurant on a search here. Many a clutch deemed bad has been fixed with the shim. Those plastic teeth just get worn over time and slip.

DITTO.

I thought my clutch was bad until I tried Tony's shim. No more problems.

I'd be interested in this too as my clutch has started to act up lately. It will slip and then the pedal will adjust about 3 clicks...

I'll talk to Tony on Monday and get him to chime in on the shim fix. Couldn't find it either here but I know he did a post on it awhile back.

Stay tuned.

i dont think its the problem anyways, if i manually adjust it like 2 extra clicks so the cable is tight it still wont work... no TOB noise pedal feels like it always had... pressure plate? new CM3 so it better not be!

are you running a fidanza or steel flywheel?

is your pedal engaging high or low or just right?

its stock steel wheel with CM3 ceramic tob. i cant tell where its engauging cause it wont disengauge compleatly... i push my foot to the floor and it wont go into gear and its not the tranny, its the clutch for sure. before this it would engauge within an inch of the pedal releasing.

I'll get Tony to chime in this morning on the shim fix. Worth a try before you pull everthing.

If not it sounds like a pressure plate issue maybe the inner ring has snapped.

Lets see if i can explain this.

1. swing down the fuse panel ( I had to bend mine forward more as I have bigger arms)

2. there are two 8mm hex head screws that hold a plastic cover over the quadrant that have to come off. (you have to remove them, the plastic wont break)

3. I take a break here because its dificult with your arms in the position. So I then adust the clutch. there is a blue saft that moves with the quadrant. Hold that in place and push the down and lift this peice up, now pull the pedal back up so you get a few clicks. try the clutch and see if thats where you need it, if not adjust it some more. (dont let the pedal snap, if you do you will have to repeat this step)

4. so now you have the clutch so it operates where you want, be carefull and dont touch it!

5. find the upper/ outter housing for the quad, its black, then find the theeth of the quad.. its all up as high as you can see, its there.

6 this is the toughest part, you are on your kneesout outside the car, your left arm is stuffed in the dash with the shim 1"x 1.5" x.180 . you will slide the shim in the only spot it will fit (gently) then push down on the shim and push down on the clutch pedal, then as you let up on the clutch (easy) the shim will click in place.

7. your done..

This sounds harder then it really is, the first few times you will mess it up, but then you get the hang of it and its pretty simple to ajdust if you need more.. Tony is a genius!! for doing this mod.

You really have to look good at this before you attempt it... your working mostly blind, and in a position that a 6' 200lb guy that is anything but natural.

Tony is like 3' tall and 68lbs so its easy for him:evilgrin: Id like to see Murph try this (hes like the size of Hulk Hogan)
