Do you guys think there will be a big difference between a 2.5 in pipe and a 3 in pipe back from my 2.5 in downpipe? One thing i know is both will be better than the stock exhaust

I would say, if you are using the stock exhaust you might as well step it up all the way to 3" exhaust... It might not be an extremely HUGE difference than 2.5". It sounds better.

I would say 3 inch to support any further increase of boost. All the boosted guys say once you get a taste you want more and i believe that. I would say ask Toolman hes sure to know the answer.

Run some 8 inch exhaust pipe like a peterbuilt. *lol* It may lose some boost but at least it will prevent boost stacking.

Chris, if you can bend 3" without a problem I would definetely go for that. By the way I'm still waiting for your answer on that last email ;)

Oh man! You live in Winstead! I'd like to see your SHO... I'll keep my eyes peeled.

I thought there were only a couple of Turboed SHOs on this forum... someone's been holding out?

As for the downpipe... I don't know what it looks like, so I can't tell you if another .5 inch diameter would do any good. What's the rest of the exhaust like and what kind of boost are you running? Is the downpipe bent? Crush or Mandral?

With your anticipated boost/power levels, I think you will be fine. My dp is only 2.5, and it does not seem have a problem flowing over 400whp. The way that my power dives down up top seems to be indicative of a restriction other than the dp (likely the head/cam).

I don't think it's going to cost any more for the 3 in so that's what i'm going to use for the catback.
Sonic to the best of my knowledge toolman and i are the only ones on this forum that have a turbo SHO (there is/was one other that didn't post on here)

most ehxaust shops can't bend a 3" pipe. Out here in the Chicagoland area, at least. Once the task becomes limited to locations in the automotive world, prices are significantly steeper. I'd look into the prices further before pursuing either size. With that out of the way, you can properly pick what would amount to the best price to performance ratio for your system.
