Hey guys I swapped motors in my turbo car today and made a new oil drain line. I tapped a 1/2 inch fitting and a downwards diaginal angle into the pan behind the front manifold to the left of the starter ( standing in front of the car ) . Was curious to see pics of you other turbos guys oil drain line locations ? Thanks

Also hope to fire up and tune on 36# injectors and 12 psi tmrw :)

I forgot to connect the return line once. Luckily, it went straight down without touching anything. I caught it within seconds though.

Was getting some blow-by , and a slight tick in the rear middle cylinder . Still made power but slight hesitation . I have been looking for a excuse to swap in this spare 3.0 I had already freshened it up. Plus wanted to make some changes to the turbo set up anyways ;)

Mine runs from the turbo at the stock airbox location over the trans and down to the rear of the oil pan via some -10 AN fittings and braided line.
If you go that route,be careful to keep it off the downpipe.

I tapped a 1/8 NPT plumbing fitting in the pan , and cap'd it for future turbo build on the shogun. From all my pics , I cant find one that you see it though.

Wow , I have never noticed this . The engine harness from 90 to 91 is different. on the plugs under the TB , the 90 harness doesnt have the square grey plug found on the 91, and both the other circle plugs are male . On the 91 harness both circle plugs are female . I have 4-5 gen 1 complete harness and have never noticed that.

1/8"? thats all ? thats a big difference from the 8an size thats considered minimum size for a drain

8 AN = 8/16 = 1/2"

1/8" = 1/16th the overall area of a 1/2" line

1/8 NPT in plumbing is like 1/4 of an inch in real life , dont ask me why... look it up at home depot (or something similar) , its quite a good size.

For reference if your more familier with AN sizes this is a -6AN to 1/8 NPT fitting.
I've never understood the whole NPT sizing thing either but it is what it is.
Still a bit too small for an turbo drain,IMO.

Exactly what I was looking for Amo , thanks .

My new one is in almost the same place , littler higher . Are you using a gen 1 starter ?

Yep. Original 1991 with over 200k.

Oh and I know you have custom pipes but be careful of the drain line getting damaged. See how mine is almost sandwiched? I put a small hole in it.

FYI Pipe dia is measured from the nominal ID. Of course it gets smaller inside as the thickness goes up.
