If the interest were high enough, I would be willing to fab up a few hot pipe kits out of 304 SS, with V-band connections (also, the V-bands allow for a lot more wiggle room for 'irregularites' from one SHO to the other).

But this would not be cheap. 2.5in uppipe, 3in dp, good for 500whp. This would work ONLY on an MTX.

No, an open DP would be SOOOO loud. It joins your exhaust at the stock location (of course, stock exhaust will be bery restrictive). If I were to build a few hotpipe sets, I would probably sell my current setup (non-Vband, 2.5in DP) for fairly little moolah.

Well, I can't really say, as I hav always kept my exhaust on my turbo, but I guess you could always not hook up your exhaust. Either way, the pipes would come with a ****** to allow bolting up to an exhaust.

I dont want to get too many people's hopes up, but I do have plans down the road of fabbing custom SHO headers designed specifically for turbo applications.

1 5/8 primaries, 2.5 inch collectors, and directed toward the drivers side of the engine bay to mate with a y-pipe and turbo ******. This would eliminate a lot of the space problems associated with turbo builds.

Similar to this this (headers I constructed for my SC build), but with the collectors dorected towards the drivers side of the engine bay:

Add your choice of turbo, and all that is left (as far as plumbing goes) is to have a custom downpipe and exhaust built.

Again, dont get your hope up too much. Ive got a LOT on my plate right now, and this is something that will not happen for some time.

oh god yes, you gusy dont even want to know how load a 350hp SHO is on open exhaust. a 45 min highway cruise with open exhaust will leave your ears pounding. and in my case, i was walking like i was drunk for 10 minutes because balance is controlled by the inner ear

as for the hot pipe kit, im thinking that to save some $, one possibility is using slip connectors and the wide exhaust clamps like the audis use. this could save some $ and allow each connection to be rotated AND adjusted for length

just an idea - and just on the dump pipe, not on the up pipe

It's not that bad with a turbo actually. My car is 2.25(at the y) into a single 2.5 straight back into the turbo. I have hollowed out cats, and a resonator and a turbo. Now, don't get me wrong, it is loud, but I can still talk on my phone and hear everything while I'm driving at 3 grand. Suprisingly enough the turbo muffles quite a bit of the sound. :naughty:

well that's a different story. having the exhaust dump right in front of where you sit makes the sound more apparent and louder to your ears. and yes mine is in the rear.
