If you are talking about puting a reed valve in the exhaust I don't believe it will work. I tried that when I built the down pipe for my Typhoon and the high temps ended up damaging the red valve. I could never get it to work right. Not to say that it may not work further down the exhaust but I did quite a bit of experimenting with it and could never get it to work the way it should have. I used a separator in-line to help eliminate the oil from getting into the intake.

If I'm thinking of the same thing, Jason and I tried that on our S/C'd SHOs. His failed and popped the rear main and mine just didn't work that well.

i put a chack valve on the bottom of the TB so it will still draw vaccume to suck some of that garbage (mostly gas) out of the crank case while the other is vented. after a couple of har pulls the car smells like a gas leak and the breather is dripping what seems to be fuel vapor... oh well i guess that what i get for runninga 218K (i hit 218K the other day) engine with boost. I will get a catch can on it for next season.

i'll play with the tables tonight and see how it goes. part of the TC lockout might be tranny temp. i'm running a very large cooler and in teh city it sits around 150 on the highway its <120 i'll reinstall my thermostat and see if that helps.

Putting a check valve on the crankcase port below the TB is in effect plugging it up during boost and WOT. This is when it needs to vent the most. That is why excess pressure is shot to the valve cover port, and the breather is dripping. Having blowby and contaminated oil running around the cam/valves at boost is not a good thing. Couple options that I would consider myself are:

1. Simply let both ports breath. Tee them both to a breather. Not ideal, but not dangerous
2. Provide a vacuum before the turbo, and try to separate the oil as best you can. This can net you some HP by giving the crankcase some vac at all speeds, especially WOT.
3. Have a separate air pump (mechanical or electrical) that simply provides vac to the crankcase, and eliminates oil/blowby from going back into the intake altogether. This would be the best of both worlds; extra HP, and no oil crudding up your intake.
4. Let a check valve welded to the exhuast provide vacuum. Not sure how well this works, or how much it would oil up the exhuast.

i might have a 12v vac pump we can use to pump the crankcase, in which case ill fab up a temp oil seperator and find a spot for the pump... we shall see ...

Make sure not to put too much vac to the crankcase, or else you will be sucking out oil! ;)
I remember hearing that you don't want more than 6 inches of vacuum or so.

FWIW, mine have been opento the air for 50k miles. No ill effects, not really dirty either. But my intake looks sparkling clean!

You could probably free up a good amount of HP putting vac to the crankcase. Especially with your setup. Considering the work you have already put in your engine, I don't think it would be too much trouble! :thumb:

but toolman your engine doesn't have 218K on it, i'm sure it is a bit cleaner than mine. although even after a bit over 2K the oil looks just as clean as when i put it in.

That's what I was thinking of, it didn't work out all that well.
