Hey guys.

Just put some 20x9.5s TSW Bathurst +35mm offset on and they fit fantastic and look great. As we know, the SHOs have super high stock suspension and I was thinking about lowering in H&Rs. I’ve spoke to one person and they said that occasionally it will rub in the rear if I have people in the back seat or tons of shit in the trunk.

Two questions.
1. Is this true? Can anyone attest to rubbing with 20x9.5a on springs?
2. If so, is there an alternative to springs that I can use… maybe ride just a smidge higher than H&R springs height?

Thanks in advance. Being lowered looks much better, especially with these wheels. I think people have run 20x9s without any issues but I have 20x9.5s.

Those look awesome, as far as springs, and rubbing - I can't answer that for sure. There are only for me that I have found 2 manufacturers that make lowering springs, H&R and Godspeed.

Now Godspeed looks even lower than H&R https://godspeedproject.com/ford-taurus-2010-19-traction-s-performance-lowering-springs.html

Sorry I couldnt be more helpful, but I do others that have lowered and used wider and taller tires. My best guess the H&R will be just fine.

I just added these to mine, and I am not worried about adding the H&R

Appreciate the feedback regardless. Thank you! Even if it does rub on the inner fender liner, is that like a big deal? Will that chop/rhinestone my tires and/or fender liner over time?

Thank you, I knew I wanted these wheels for awhile!

Well any consistent scraping is not going to be any good, specially since the tires this group picks are f'n expensive. That said, take a read thru this post:

Same size rubber? Wider Rubber? With the same size, your tire will stick out ~4mm more and the rim will stick out ~23mm more. When you lower it, this may become an issue. Try to see if you can get some measurements from guys with lowered stock setups and you can enter them in on the far left. This should help determine if it will fit, if it needs to be rolled, or if it is not an option.

I have Superspeed RF05RR, 20x9.5ET35 with 275/40 Firestone Indy 500 tires, and I'm on H&R lowering springs. Haven't had any issues with rubbing at all. Front or rear, or with 5 people, plus stuff in the trunk.

Really? Interesting. Same wheels specs/size and no rubbing whatsoever huh?

I know two or three friends who cut off half a coil from the rear OEM springs to even out the front and rear. I wouldn’t personally do that though as I assume a heavy load in the back would sink the rear down.

I had H&R springs, I also cut the rear H&R springs to reduce the rake, 1” spacers with 20x9.5 +35 Bravado Tribute wheels. 275/35/20 tires all around. Lake side 01The wheel wells are plenty large enough, the only issue to come possibly is the inner rear fender liner has the most absurd shape that protrudes into the wheel well. If it wasn’t for this bad design there would be no rubbing whatsoever. Over some bumps my tires did rub this inner liner plastic. I took a cut off wheel to it and trimmed the plastic down where the tires scuffed it. The inner liner comes to a point and that’s where it rubs. I trimmed it down so much it basically removed the point shape and created a tiny hole. However you cannot see it at all when the wheels are on the car. It no longer rubbed after that.

What I didn’t try was heat. Perhaps try a heat gun instead, heat the pointy plastic spot, heat it enough to wear you can take a damp cloth and just push it in, deforming it back in towards the rear bumper. Instead of making a hole like I did.

Don’t let this absurd plastic shape stop you from achieving your stance/goals for your car. But like I mentioned, I had 1” spacers and cut the rear H&R springs. Like @Mahu24 mentioned I don’t think you’ll rub if he didn’t.
