I need to replace the trunk weatherstrip on my '89 and JC Whitney has the part for an '89 Taurus. Are the trunk bodies the same for the regular Taurus and the SHO? Will the weather strip for the regular Taurus fit my SHO?

Thanks.

The JC Whitney seal fits OK but the rubber it's made out of is different. It's much stiffer and 1) it does not bend smoothly around the corners of the trunk opening, 2) You have to slam the trunk to get it close even if you adjust the striker to close easier, and 3) because the seal is so stiff and it puts so much pressure on the trunk lid half the time the trunk lock actuator will not pop the trunk.

I had this same problem with my fairlane. I ended up cutting dashes on the inside wall of the new seal with a razor blade. this allowed it to collapse much more easily when the deck lid closed, but it remained springy enough to seal very well.
