Well I have been thinking about it for awhile and i have finally made up my mind. Now that i have got another Gen 3, that i wasnt going to mess with. I have wondered how true dual exhaust would sound and within the next couple of weeks i am going to be putting true duals on my car. I am debating whether to go catless or get two smaller cats and i really dont know which way to go with mufflers. Has anyone done this yet?

Justin, we talked about this...go catless and run nothing bigger than 2" pipes with a x-pipe.

Wait to see what everyone else says though...haha Call me up when you do this as I will make the drive with Chris and we'll join you (yes I'm speaking for him haha)

Why not what's the worst that could happen. Oh Ya they could make you put quiet mufflers on just like they made you peel your tint off the front windows.

I seriously thought about it when I did my exhaust. Some days I wish I would have tried it but I ran into what I thought would be some fittment issues. I really don't know what the gains would or could be nor am I trying to deter you from this project but I should mention that while I have not dynoed my car, the gains I have noticed by SOTP driving are pretty substantial. The car is a whole different animal now.

My plan for true duals might help get you started. I was going to go 2 1/4" off of the motor with equal lenghts to the x-pipe. I would reccomend Dr. Gas for this part. They make a transition x-pipe that drops to 2" after the merge. For muflers you might neen more than one on each side, this was the other reason I went 2 in to1 into 2. The car with no cats and one muffler is very loud. I ended up having to use two Magnaflow mufflers in my 2-1-2 to keep it quiet.

For the longest time it has been said that there are no gains to be made with exhaust on the V8. This I believe is true if you keep the stock y-pipe, it is a huge restriction and a very poor design in you ask me. My car is again a different animal now. The power comes on very strong from 4000 on up. I'm hoping to get the car on the dyno later this week to get some hard hp/tq numbers but I am very optomistic there will be a major improvement over my stock numbers.

I say go for it!

I am going to do 2 in all the way back, catless and what ever kind of good mufflers i can get by this weekend. I am going to try to get two flexpipes made tommorrow. And I am going to try to fit an x-pipe somewhere. I am in the process of also ordering an sct tuner.

Order the SCT tuner through Paul and have him shut off the rear O2s. As for the 2-2" piping running down the floor pan, you're prob going to have to offset them on a 45 degree angle. One on the top right and one on the bottom left...PM me if you dont understand & I'll draw you somehthing. Flowmasters will prob sound good in this instance because you ARE running duals...it will sound just like a mustang without the deepness of another 1.2 litres. Give it a try...

Oh yeah, make sure the rear banks exits the passenger side giving it more of an equal length of piping overall.

Today i had just purchased magnaflow mufflers, because they have the same design as the bullet, a staight through muffler with fiberglass surrounding it. I had also got the two flex pipes total was about $250 and unfortunately Paul ran out of sct tuners. I am going to do this over this course of this weekend so i will take pics and post sound clips as i get them.

I really like the sound of the Magnaflow mufflers.

FWIW, we keep X-Cal2's in stock at all times.

Well the exhaust is on and it sounds really good, the video i have is not the best. I am out of state right now so it is pretty hard to down load alot of pics. The exhaust that Ray from midnightauto built looks very good and the sound is like no other sho. When i get back i will be posting pics of the project.

The rear O2s only tell the PCM that the cats are doing the job or not. Has no effect on the engine performance.

What do you think it did for your performance? Does it feel any faster to you? You should have gotten a dyno run before and after. Sweet looking exhaust though man, nice job.
