98SHO cutting grass today, moved SHO back 1 1/2 car length to mow under. 2 to 3 hrs later moved back for her weekly wash. 1 hr later went to start for the 70mph dry, it was very hard to start. starts any other time with no problem. started after 4 or 5 tries today and ran good. no codes given, checked after the dry. this is the second weekend she has done this. ideas? causes? SHO is due for a 100k. just trying to put two days off together for the run to FPS. no other performance problems except this one. THANKS

Sometimes if I dont let the car idle for long enough. I have the same problem. I discovered, if I start the car and move it and shut it off imediatly this happens. Especially when its cold.

Cure: Let it run longer than few seconds... Hope this helps.

I figured I should let run longer. just hoping its not a sign of other troubles [nervous about my baby]. if it occurs for others also, I can probably not worry.

Well, It's never happened to my SHO, but that same exact thing has happened to my F-150, so I wouldn't be too worried about it. Anyone know what could cause that to happen?

If you start the car on a cold motor and immediately shut it off you may wash down the oil in the cylinders due to the extra gas used on the cold start. This will result in a "no compression" issue and make starting difficult. This just bit me big time on my '93 after a spark plug change.

Did the motor turn over faster than normal when it wouldn't start? If so then floor the gas and keep cranking. This will clear out the raw gas and coat the cylinders with oil again.

motor didn't turn over any faster during nonstart than ordinary. didn't turn it off immediatly. started, put in gear, idled back in gear 20 ft, put in park, shut off. did the idle forward 2-3 hrs later. wasn't rushing to move SHO.
