I have tried to pull the pedat before as it says in the Hayes manual. This does not do anything, no clicking, no adjusting, nothing. Thats why i thought maybe it would be "stretched". It will not go into reverse and is a little haard to get into gears. Thanks for your help.

Recently I've noticed increased difficulty when shifting into 1st and reverse...as though the clutch was not completely disengaging. I got a pair of long needle-nosed pliers, and while lifting up on the clutch pedal, grabbed the ratcheting mechanism which the clutch cable mounts to and tugged towards me. It "clicked" and the pedal felt firmer sooner. Shifting is much cleaner now......maybe I've put off the inevitable for just a while longer.
