Hey Guys, I was driving home Sat when my Passenger side halfshaft Failed at the transmission end. I have never experienced this problem in all my years and was lucky enough to pull over before total separation. Well, I towed her home, jacked her up for what I thought would be a 45 min max axle swap, and 2 days later still scratching head. I searched all threads, used pry bars,a BF slide hammer, drift punch, and Harsh language but no dice; she is still stuck in Transmission. I have pulled axles from many cars before and Never, and I mean Never had this difficulty. If no answers then guess have to shame myself and take her to a transmission shop. HELP!!!!!!
BTW its an ATX

Happy 4th

Maybe the cir-clip has deformed....

I had an old Probe with a driver's side axle with the same problem. Finally got a long enough lever (steel pipe on a pry bar) that I popped it loose.

There's no secret, it's just going to take more force. Either you or the shop will have to do it, it's just a question as to who will be taking responsibility if it breaks something inside inside the diferential......

Yes...transmission shop able to get the inner joint of axle out without damaging tranny and all for a measly $75 plus tax(I supplied rebuilt axle). However they did forget to retighten the sway-br endlink to strut so I will be calling them shortly. One reason I dont like anyone else touching my car.
