Its been some time now since I have had my tri-flows installed. I had them installed right before the convention in Seattle. My cams now have about 10,000 on them. The engine I put them in was a 3.2 liter with 20,000 original miles on it. I had the stage I shoshop cams in my 3.0 and had the idle set at 1,000 rpms, and beleive it or not still got average 24 mpg. Prior conventions I averaged 30 mpg but thats cause all conventions so far are far away form me.
I kept the Idle set at 1000 for the tri-flow cams and have seen no problems with stalling or anything else. My gas mileage has taken a toll though I get roughly 19-20 mpg and if i switch to a different chip that Kirk gave me I get about 10mpg. But what a screamer, these tri-flows are the best. On the way to Seattle this year I only had to down shift to 4th a few times. ANd there were alot more than a few mountains.
I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to write something about these cams but in one word there AWESOME. I got the second set but the first installed. I ate the track up in Seattle and can't wait till New Hampshire. Thats just right down the road for me.
Well in closing I have to say that ya a y-pipe is a good horsepower getter but these cams that Josh sells are well worth the money. ALso be sure to get the shims from Josh too. Also if those aren't enough Kirk has some and hes the best in a jam. My next step is to get headers from Matt at sho source but yours should be getting these cams from Josh he knows what he's doing.
