I have a 1999 SHO with 181.*** miles on it and the transmission has developed a whine in the transmission. it happens whenever I take off from a dead stop from first gear into 2nd. I can't tell if it does it in any other gear but it does and very noticeably coming from a stop. Checked the tranny fluid and it seems to be burnt.

does it happen to do it in nuetral?
I forgot to add it makes a whiny-ish noise when it's in park / first started up/ Neutral I am not sure of.

might be a long shot but take off the drive belt and see if it goes away.If it does then you may have a p/s pump on its way out.

Could be the transmission. My car is starting to act like my fathers 1972 Dodge D100. When I put it into gear it will just kind of sit there and then wake up. I have a whine noise also, but that has been going on for the last 5 1/2 years.
I recommend a change of fluid and new filter. Can't hurt. I just did this to mine after about 50k on the last fluid/filter.
