Hello all I was curious how all of you SHO owners with tunes trannys are holding up, I have a generation 3 v8 SHO and that tranny can't handle being driven aggressive at all. I have the 4+ tune on my 2011 with 67,000 miles on it and I have already done a tranny flush "fluid exchange" but every time I put my foot into it to redline my heart goes in my mouth I worry I'm going to leave the tranny behind one day at a light! Car runs and shifts great was just curious how tough these trannys are

2012 with 86,000 miles and tuned since 31,000. Driven to red line every day. Transmission flush at 60,000. Will flush again at 90,000. No issues. So I hope you have the same good luck.

93 octane stage 4 plus X, 3Bar, 160 T-stat, cold plugs 0.030, CAI intake

2011 with 49k...18k tuned with the most aggressive Livernois tune available per the mods the entire time.

Right as winter came on I thought I was having wheel hop...turned out to be a stutter from 1st to 2nd. Drain and fill process to swap trans fluid at 45k and stutter is gone. Car clicks gears perfect at all times now.

Is this drain and fill something you can do yourself? Any directions?
I have the same stutter with my unleashed tune and need it gone.

I bought 18 quarts because what I've read to get a full fluid change is a 3 times drain and fill process extracting 5 quarts each time.

I ended up doing 4 drain and fills because I was only getting 4 quarts out at a time.

Need: Trans fluid....drain pan with measurements on it....funnel....4 jack stands

Put car up on jack stands...remove belly pan and CAI...start car and spend 3-5 minutes casually going through each gear spending at least 5 seconds in each one....turn off car and drain fluid (one bolt bottom of trans)...replace plug and fill with EXACT amount drained....repeat 3-5 minute gear changing and drain and fill.

Highly suggest checking fluid levels throughout the next week. Make sure the car has fully warmed up the trans and then give it about a 10-15 minute cool down to get an accurate "hot" reading.

Thank you!
Is there a specific fluid for this?

I'd use the dealer provided factory fluid. No real way to drain all fluid at once, so mixing it would be a no-go for me and not recommended.

Parts desk likes me at local dealer, he tried charging me 5.80 a quart until I asked if there was a case price...he chuckled and got it down to 5.17 a quart I think. Just under a $100, $60 cheaper than either of their services and more affective in my mind.

My 2010 PP SHO had 45,000 plus miles on the car. I had the stage 4 tune install for 4 year. I drove the car in winter and summer with no problems. The only trouble I had was a front shock went bad. I just did the required service schedule all the time I had it. The only thing I change in the winter time was the air cleaner assemble; installed the stock one.

No problems as well with almost 10k miles running LMS 93 V8 tune and living in Texas heat. I do have an issue with it locking out of gear but I believe that its the traction control kicking in? If I don't disable traction control, when the car shifts from 1 to 2, the amount of tire slip causing the Transmission to disengage... it's almost like pushing in on the clutch on a standard... If I left the throttle, it will continue as normal. Took me a while to figure this out, but I noticed that the traction control light was on when this happened and that's when I turned it off, and tried again. At first I thought it was the transmission but I believe it has something to do with the stability control and or traction control??

Please tell me this sounds right!?

i do believe thats the stability control sensing basically the cars out of control cause of the excessive tire slip. ive gotten it in the winter. are they the goodyear f1s? and what rpm are you launching at?

I believe your right, I've had it just one time do it on a straight away... Even today pulling out of the neighborhood, I punched it on a right hand turn and it did the hole rev limiter sound and pulsed shifting into 2nd, I just stayed in it and it contuined. I'm sure if I had the traction control off, it would had shift into 2nd gear. What also make me think it's stablitly control is, tonight's it raining and I went to subway and launching at a red light or stop sign, I can floor it and it spins in first and second with no issues, and with everything in its default selection... So, I think the car stablitly is kick in when I floor it from a dead stop on a right hand turn and while pulling out in front of traffic and that's what's causing the delay during 1st to 2nd gear... Kind of like when your seat belts lock after you've moved around real quick and it locks in the wrong position after the fact?

Tires are also close to being due for a change out, 20k on stock... And yes, I'll continue running the F1's!

Thanks for the feed back! My build is moving along but slowly... I did get my jackpoint jack stands in a couple of weeks ago!
