Every since I brought my ATX SHO, I've noticed this problem. Even my passengers have asked me about this problem and it's hard to explain without someone riding in the car and feeling the situation me and my passengers feel.

Well here goes, I'll try to put it into words.

I get into the car and put it into drive. I accelerate and sometimes the car shifts so smoothly that you can hardly notice the shift unless I open the secondaries up. Then on other occasions, I accelerate and the car shifts with a hard bump into second gear followed by smooth transitions into all the rest of the gears-3rd and 4th.

When I'm waiting on the on ramp to the highway, I accelerate and the secondaries open and the car takes off. I watch as my rmps go up to about 3-4K rpms then she shifts hard into second gear followed by smooth transitions again.

Please take notice. This is not constant. It doesn't happen all the time. She seems to do better when she is warmed up or has been moving for awhile. I only notice the problem when I've been sitting still such as a light or waiting to merge into traffic.

I've been told by the dealer that the transmission was just changed a year ago. One mechanic told me that it could be that the transmission needs to be adjusted or a sensor is going bad. I'm hoping it's a sensor because I really can't afford to replace the transmission in the car.

Ok...let me have it. :bonk:

Sounds like you have a cracked forward clutch piston. Very common problem in the ATX trannys. The stock one is aluminum, the updated version is steel. Basically, you'll have to live with it unless you feel like paying for a rebuild. It's actually not a huge problem, as I drove my '94 like that for over 10K miles, and even then there was no other damage to the tranny. It's just a matter of living with the occasional bangs when it shifts.
