When I put the ATX in drive and accelerate, I hear what sounds like a spring releasing. This sound occurs everytime without fail and has not changed since I got the car. No other driving behavior of the vehicle has changed. The vehicle drives and shifts like any other car under all circumstances. The noise seems odd.

Any reactions as to the implications or cause of this noise?

You sure it's not one of the springs in the seat?

If not, it could just be a loose suspension component.

I know what your talking about. The sound seems to come from the lower dash/transmission area. Usually occurs during the 1-2 shift for me. Both the SLO and the SHO make the noise so I assume its normal. Still I have no clue what it is, but I would like to find out.

I have a similar noise in my 95. As soon as the speedo first passes 20 MPH I get that noise. If touching the brake at the same time, you can feel a slight pulsation at the same time. I figured it related to some form of self-check in the ABS (if there is such a thing).

You all are aware that in Gen 2 automatic SHO's that the first time the car reaches 20mph that the ABS pump runs for a second as a self-test, right?
