When spring comes I will be changing the fluid in my 3.2 transmission with synthetic fluid and while doing so I will be changing the leaky pan gasket. I picked up a WIX filter and gasket set which came with a rubber pan gasket and was wondering if there any problems with them on a SHO? I see a lot of the stock cork gaskets available online instead.

The one I got actually looks similar to the one RCM sells:

the best gaskets are the rubber ones with steel inserts around the bolt locations so they cannot be squished too much.

unless my brain is not recalling right, that picture is not the right shape for an atx SHO pan gasket.

The WIX kit I got came with two gaskets, one is 17 bolt and I think the other is a 19. The 17 seems to be correct and the same shape as RCM's. They do not have the steel inserts in them, but do seem quite thick.

RockAuto carries a gasket from ATP Part# LG205 which seems to have metal inserts in them? At least that's what the picture shows.
