i just ripped out my engine and did the 60k mile tune up and replaced the clutch and flywheel with a fidanza and a dxd south bend clutch. the problem is when i put the car in reverse it does a hopping motion when giving it gas. it never did that before i replaced the trans and flywheel. can anyone give some good solutions?

Hopping? Is the car bucking? Give it more gas before releasing the clutch in reverse gear and see if it still happens.

And check your engine and trans mounts.

Sounds like clutch chatter maybe. Quick Rev and dump and see how that works. Of course you will have to find the sweet spot so you don't melt the tires.

I would also check the intake hose after the MAF. If you cracked it, you could let unmetered air into the engine. Making it idle and run erratic for the time that the crack is exposed.

My Fidanza/9 puck/HDPP chattered pretty bad at forst. It got better, but still did it. I think it was because I didn't have the flywheel reground before using it. I know you aren't supposed to have it ground, but I think that was my problem.

Fast forward to the Indy convention, when I broke the HDPP straps! Drove the car home to change the clutch. I installed my 2nd Fidanza, along sith the used 9 puck, and a new Clutch Masters stage 1 pressure plate. No chatter this time. I can only guess it was the 1sat Fidanza not being true of flat.:thumb:
