What kinda and how much tranny fluid do I need to do my own tranny flush on my ATX? I went to NAPA tonight and asked them what kind cause I couldn't remember what I read... I had seen Ford Type H in a manual but they didn't have that. The guy said I needed Mercron III plus I had to add this expensive additive to it to turn it into Mercron V... I laughed and walked off... Any other tips on doin my tranny flush?... I would like to replace the filter...

You need Mercon 3 fluid. If you are actually flushing out all the old fluid, it will take about 13 quarts. If you are only dropping the pan, (change the filter for <$20 while your there)it will only take about 6 quarts. Do a search on this topic, I posted my procedure once or twice before on how I flushed my fluid on my 94 ATX. As for the additive to turn it into Mercon V, I've never heard of that before.
