I got my gauge hooked up today and wanted to share with everyone. I think the colors on the gauges match the rest of my stock cluster nicely.

Kinda hard to read during the day, IMO. It does look good though! How about a write up and instructions for ATX owns??

Its actually very easy to read, it just came out like that because of the reflection from my flash. The install was easy as well. The close up shot shows what it usually looks like during the day.

Basic instructions:
For the light I tapped into the power from the fog light switch, so it dims with the dimmer switch. If you look at www.shotimes.com for the "foglight mod" it gives you a layout of the wires. There are all kinds of places for grounds underneath the steering wheel area.

The sending unit was a breeze as well. ACV1081(Adam Varney) showed me a real easy spot to install it, without drilling or anything. If you are looking down at your transmission from the driver's side right below the upper radiator hose there is a bolt in the transmission, all you have to do is undo that bolt put in the sending unit bolt and wire it to the gauge. Tap a power source for the gauge and you are done.

this is "the spot" everyone keeps telling me about. guess i'll take a look at it if the tranny comes out tonight.

just curious (as I am awaiting a 3 guage pod myself)... whats the purpose of a tranny temp guage? What would cause it to get too hot? If it does get too hot, what do you do? Is this for someone who likes to power brake, or do massive burnouts?
It does LOOK good btw :thumb:

driving too hard for too long would cause it to get too hot. powerbraking would also heat up the tranny fluid quite a bit. to an atx guy, tranny temp is an indication of what condition your tranny is in. ALMOST as important as an EGT to a turbo guy.

Cool. If you look under this area under Gauge Pod Gauges, you'll find my response on the location for the sender unit. It's just above the tranny lines coming into the tranny. The question was whether it was above the incoming (cooler) or outgoing (hotter) line, which might influence the reading.

I think it's working great. Most of the time the temp is about 150, but when I'm in really slow beep-n-creep traffic in hot weather, it gets around 180.

It should be around 175-180. If it gets into the mid-200's, you could have a big problem.

I can take pics if anyone has any questions about what I am talking about.

A pic is always helpful. I found a bolt about an inch above the top trans cooler line fitting. Is that the correct one?

Sorry. Don't have a picture and I'm out of state at the moment, so can't get to the car to take one. However, I'm sure that's it. You can see the plug from above, but not from underneath the car.

Don't forget to put teflon tape on the fitting to keep it from leaking.

So far this week the highest mine has gotten is up to 195, it usually hovers around 165-180 though. This is without the transmission cooler hooked up yet. I wanted to run it for a week or so without just to see if there is a drastic change in the temps of the transmission.

175 plus/minus. Cold winter? about 150, I'd say. If it gets over 200 and stays there, I think that's a problem.

I am also looking into getting a gauge pod with a Trans Temp gauge, if anyone could snap a picture of that bolt they are talking about I would really appreciate it. Thanks. :thumb:

Awsome! :thumb: The UPS man (actually it was a lady...) just dropped off my Summit Turbos and my 3 Autometer Carbon Fibre gauges (volt, oil psi, and water temp) and they're definately good looking.

Much better than I expected. :****:

It actually threads in there, you take out the bolt that is in the same spot and replace it with the sending unit. The size of the bolt and the size of the sending unit are the same. Its like that spot was meant for this exact reason. Then all you need to do is attatch a wire to the top of the sending unit and feed the wire into the cabin and attatch to the gauge. :thumb:
