Need to replace the top line from the radiator to the trans cooler. Does anyone know of an aftermarket replacement that will work or is it time to hit the junkyards?

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to re-plumb the whole system - and bypass the thermostat that they have there under the radiator.

I have two barbs screwed into my transmission - runs straight to the cooler and back to the tranny. Bypassed the radiator. No need for it to run through there.

The thermostat on my 94 3.2L is located under the mass air flow sensor near the top of the engine on the driver's side. I've looked into replacing the trans cooler with an aftermarket HAYDEN system, but cant find one that matches the existing mounting brackets.

You don't need to replace the transmission cooler, the stock unit mounted in the front will be way better than any aftermarket cooler.

I wasn't talking about your coolant thermostat. I meant the one that is plumbed into the transmission cooler lines. It is inside of a little brass box that is under your radiator in the engine bay that has three transmission cooler lines plumbed into/out of it.

Just replace the cooler lines and run them straight to the cooler and back to the tranny. Plus, you will get more flow than the small metal lines.

Can you show me some photos of what your system looks like so I can get a visual?

I think I get what you're saying and it seems like it would be easy enough to do, but I want to get a visual before I start in.

Yea, what Doug said, just get some rubber trans cooler line and some screw clamps and replace the hard lines. They like to rot out and leak anyways. If you go to the driver's side under the car where the hard line T's into rubber line, just replace the T with a barbed union and run rubber line all they way across the car next to the lower rad support and run it into the cooler and the same for the line going out of the cooler.

You can also do what the threads Doug posted above did. What I did was just a bit easier and quicker to do since you don't have to change the fittings on the trans or plumb the wire through the engine compartment. Either way BYPASS the RADIATOR :thumb:

That's what I thought you meant. Super easy to do & you guys think it will improve the flow of the trans-oil? I will post the results after the mod is installed.

Yea, the way it goes through the rad is actually pretty restrictive.

Trans re-plumb completed; Driving at 80mph on the freeway on a 94 degree day for 25 minutes while testing trans-temp = 168 deg.
Thanks for the ideas & input!
Next problem: I need a new IMRC solenoid! Any ideas?

now this is a good find! I read that other post and it mentions that he had an issue with the torque converter locking in 3rd and 4th and after the re-plumbing that issue went away.
My car also has an issue exactly like that. I might was well try it and see :)

Glad it turned out well. Your SHO will especially like it in the hotter climate you live in.

IMRC, get a good used one. Post in the WTB section, you should have one shortly. Or their could be one in the classifieds.

I have a new question. Im looking for a code reader for the SHO (94 3.2L VIN 8th digit P) & I cant find one. I've looked at an Equus model 3145 which is compatible with MOST fords, but when I check the manual it doesn't show my car! Does anyone know what car reader is compatible with this car?

The 3145 is what I currently use, along with the Innova 3149 extension cable (no helper required). Works fine.
