Its me again. Not sure what to do yet again. Its hard to get my sho into 1st, 2nd and 3rd somtimes. Also, when I just shift into then and release the clutch I hear a rattling comming from the tranny side and Im not sure what it is, I need some inpute. It doesnt slip, ever. What I was thinking was that its the TOB rattling. What do you think? I also know there are 2 different clutch kits, one is 7/8 and one is 3/4, and one of those has a repaire sleeve for the TOB I think how do I know what one to get if I need to replace it?

Back in Michigan ... again.
You may just need to swap in some new trans fluid. GM Synchromesh manual trans fluid works very well in these cars. You'll need three quarts and you can only get it at a GM dealer. Oh yeah, you'll also need to suck the old fluid out of the trans.

And in the future, please post your mechanical/maintenance questions in the appropriate maintenance forums; you'll get much better help that way :)

x2

Had the same problem; I personally use Mobil1 Synthetic ATF and it shifts much nicer now. There is some debate as to which fluids are better.

Recommend putting a drain plug in, and draining ALL of the fluid out.
