Today my tranny started to have problems. It was fine this morning then started to slip, buck!? Its a 94 ATX w/151 K on it. Is there anything that can help or is my tranny junk? Any advice would be helpful.
-Thanks Rob

I'm assuming this has never happened before with your car?!

When my 93ATX started going out (a day after that Aamco power surge of tranny fluid:madflame: ) it would ride fine, actually better than ever before, but then would only accelerate in 1st gear only sometimes, and would get stuck in 3rd or 4th gear and I would have to get off the gas to let the car slow down back to 1st so I could get'ur moving again!

I would say check for oil in your plug wells, but man, I rode for a few years with my oil wells filled.

Just keep notice for another week before doing anything! But, keep that highway assistance &/or local towing company # in hand just in case!:thumb:

Also, if your car stalls at a stop, make sure your O2 sensors are good, i dunno....
Paid $1800 flat for my rebuild!

1st to 2nd shifts hard, 2nd to 3rd is ok, 3rd to 4th is iffy. If i baby it it moves alright. On the highway it seems fine, around the city is where I'm having my problems.

1st step is to check that the trans fluid level is where it should be.

If it is you might consider pulling the pan to see if there's any metal in the fluid. I know very little about the ATX but you might also consider having the VSS checked, I know it can cause some shifting issues.

Short of that, get in touch with Mike (SHO#7) to see what he has to say. He's a manager at a transmission shop in Ohio and he really knows his stuff.

The fluid level is fine. A year ago I had a massive tranny leak. A bottle of lucas and 30k later not bad for a $20 fix. Whats VSS ?????

I agree, check your codes. The VSS ( vehicle speed sensor ) will set a code most of the time.

When you say slip, buck. Do you mean that when it changes gear the engine RPM's go up, and then the car bangs into gear. That is the impression I get from slips,bucks...

If that is the case, you may have impending doom in the transaxle department. Let us know a little better description and if you have any codes.

the tranny slips (rpms rev up) If I turn to the left its almost like the axle isn't connected. Then it hooks (chirps).
