my 5spd tranny on my 1993 sho likes to grind when going into 2nd and 3rd gear when i shift at low rpms. but if i rev up to like 3000rpms and then shift it is clean, no grinds. also it sometimes has trouble going into first gear. would a fluid flush and change help solve this problem?
thanks

Change the fluid first and make sure it is full. Pull back on the clutch pedal to make sure it is adjusted. How does the clutch feel? High pedal travel? Slippage under heavy load? It might not neccessarily be a tranny problem as it could be a TOB or PP problem.

PP = Pressure Plate
TOB = Throw Out Bearing

Check the fluid level. If low then fill to capacity.

If it's old change it, it makes a world of difference.

If pedal travel is good and there's no slipping there still could be problems with the TOB or PP. How long has the clutch been installed mile wise? It could be a broken finger on the PP.

If it's none of the above it could be something internal like a blocking ring or synchronizer.
