Well I should be getting my car back with a freshly rebuilt transmission and the Transgo **** and calibration kit installed. The tranny guys tell me that the parts inside my transmission got so hot that they actually fused together. My question then is, since heat is the #1 killer of transmissions, should I be investing in a new and larger tranny cooler?

If so, what coolers are recommended and where do I buy such an item? Any help would be appreciated as I don't want to go through this ordeal and expense again!

Thanks

Hayden is he way to go.
You can pick them up at a U-haul near you under the U-haul name. I just put the largest one they had in. Make sure you get the "high performance" cooler. They are a "stacked" type cooler not tubular.

Its rated for towing a 5,000lb trailer.

You can also get them at most any parts store as well.

I have a B&M Tranny Cooler. I think it was made for an RV. IT is huge and it took about 30 min to install. The shifting is tighter, like when you drive it on a cold day. It might be the Mobile 1 synthetic, but i think it is the cooler. IT is way worth the $60.00 per the trannys in a SHO are $$$$. boink

Sounds like it will do the trick.
When you install it, retain the flow through the radiator, and stock cooler. Then rout it to the new tranny cooler.

So you will have 3 methods of cooling the ATF.

This is recomended by many, and auto manufactures.

Tru-cool is a good brand. It's the only one that my local tranny specialist will install. The new stacked plate coolers are much more efficient so you can use a smaller cooler and it will still be as effective.

Just rememebr to run a winter front in cold weather, or cover up about 80% of the cooler itself. Overcooling the ATF is almost as bad as over-heating it.

Very good, as always thanks for the help! thumb

I will be picking up the cooler on Saturday and should have it installed and ready for the summer heat next week. Thanks for all of the tips.
