I was putting my "new" TB on, I went to adjust the TPS. I got .97v at closed throttle. But when i ran through the throttle, (no flat spots either) and got to WOT, i was only reading 4.68v. I thought that it was supposed to be as close to 5v as possible?

Get the closed TB TPS reading closer to 1.0, and you should get the WOT reading closer to 5v;)

Either way, you are pretty close already.
Anything between .95v and .99v closed throttle, and anything above 4.5v WOT is pretty much considered "good enough"

I was able to get 1v dead on.. but from what i understand, thats to high...
Even if i get to .99v, will that make up the difference on the other end?

errr... i went to advance it alittle, and ended up having back at the .91v that it was at before... :bonk: i couldnt get it back up to the .97v.... oh well.

I've come to learn that the PCM on the SHO uses "relative" TPS voltage readings (as opposed to "absolute" voltage) for most everything, and I think that's one reason why the high/low values don't have to be dead-on. SHOZ or Axianator could probably tell you more:

Yep - most people don't realize that the '89-'95 V6 SHO computers only use Absolute TP to calculate a) Initial TP (which is used as the base voltage when calculating Relative TP), and b) Throttle Angle Rate (or how fast the throttle is being applied). When it comes to the significant throttle position calculations, the EEC always refers to Relative TP (or Absolute TP - Initial TP).

As a result, it is pointless to "modify" the TPS on your V6 SHO and expect any kind of improvement. ;)

Not entirely true... I found my voltage low, don't recall right now I posted on it when I did this a month or so ago... Almost instantly when the voltage got closer to 1 volt the idle smoothed out. I don't consider this a "mod" as much as a minor "tune" to help the computer read the "absolute" voltage. Just my findings. Not trying to start a war.

dont know if it is the same for SHOs..


but in the Grand Prix world... we read it in TPS %... 100% is obvioulsy WOT.

It is soo high up that it will never read 100%.... but it WILL read something like 98.9% or something like that.


just a thought.
