Quite frankly, those Proxes FZ4's suck, IMO.

I tried them for 30days last fall, from TFT in Woonsocket. Awful on the street, awful on the AutoX, noisy, and buh-bye. The Pirelli P7000s I had on before them were fantastic on the street, but rolled way too much on AutoX, at full PSI. I ended up with BFG G-Force KDW series 1's, which were a great balance for those 2 conditions. They do, however, split the blocks at the sidewall on the road course, and they weren't great for the strip, traction-wise.

torque steer has to do with motor mounts, strut rod bushings, endlinks, etc etc. It's a suspension issue, not tires.

One of the biggest contributing factors to torque steer is the driveline setup.Because of the input shaft on the passengers side, the axles aren`t the same length,so without an LSD,one wheel will have more grip than the other.

look, all you people telling me where torque steer comes from obviously didn't drive my car before the toyos. i had dunlop sport 5000s and when i punched it the car would go everywhere. i'm not saying i eliminated it enTIREly (that's just imposible) but, compared to before... well, it's 90% better. it used to just about **** the wheel out of my hands.

well, whatever your preference, see dan anyway.

Hey JT

I read in the old car and driver or one of those old car mags that reviewed the SHO that the halfshafts are within 1 mm of each other. Not equal but pretty darn close. Of course then there is the intermediate shaft which is what you're talkin about.

Yes, a SHO in good mechanical shape has very little torque steer. If, under hard acceleration, the car is pulling from one side to the other, you most likely have some worn out suspension pieces. Worn out lower control arms are a probability, as well as subframe bushings.

ok, i'm not suggesting that anyone is wrong. i'm not suggesting that tires solve everyone's problems. i posted about MY torque steer issues about a month ago, a little after i got my sho. no one mentioned tires. as far as a quaifed car... that's dissapointing, i was hoping it would get a little better after the lsd. however i can't really imagine anything worse than how mine was before the tires. i came pretty close to hitting people a few times... it scared the crap out of me! anyway, my point is i don't see the need for all this condescending bs, i came here to learn and share. not to argue about who knows more. "can't we all just get along?" :)

also, i'm pretty sure i do need SFBs. i'm doing a few things at once though... upgrading all sorts of bushings, springs, etc. as far as the SFBs specifically, i plan on going with the alluminum ones.

the only thing that casues true torque steer, generally speaking, are unequal length halfshafts. The SHO has equal length halfshafts and does not suffer from torque steer. I don't have torque steer and I have around 300 HP or so. The Intermadiate shaft is stationary and is bolted to the car so that it doesn't act as a part of the passenger side halfshaft, only an extension from the transmission.

What these cars suffer from is tire pull, feels JUST LIKE torque steer. If the tires are different or different air pressures then it will pull like a mad man.Get a good set of tires and the problem goes away. Algnment can also casue pull but is not torque steer.

You want torque steer drive a 90 Prbe GT with the 4cyl turbo. The pass side halfshaft goes from one side of the car to the other basically. Same with the tempo's.
