My ATX's trans is acting a little weird.. it's been happening for about a week now. Started out with the RPM jumping around when I'd roll at 10mph or higher, seems like it's slipping in and out of gear, the RPM would go from 500 to 3K in about a second, then back down, then back up, it'd do that until I slowed for it to downshift, or if I accellerated it'd jump back to gear. Also after slowing from this a roll it only went down to 2nd gear. So I'm having to manually put it in 1st.. the last thing is just hard engagement, when I go to reverse or drive from park or neutral it really jumps into gear. The fluid level is perfect.

any ideas?

i dont know if this will help but i am getting my tranny repaired because the scumbag dealer sold me one with a faulty tranny...anyway whenever i go around a left turn, and accelerated through it, my car would jump frfom about 1k rpm all the way up to about 3500rpm and then **** into gear. i do have to get the tourque converter replaced and some other tranny parts but it possibly could be the tourque converter. hope that helps.

Now Matt has an MTX that's toast, and an ATX that's toast. One to many burnouts, eh Matt?

My guess that it's rebuild time. For having 170+k on the original, a 93 no less, you did pretty good.

well sean the MTX just needs a new clutch and PP, and the ATX, well, possibly 20 too many burnouts, not bad for an ATX. The last 10K were on a D4U1 maybe that gave me an extra 15 miles?

FYI...when my original ATX went out at around 142k....I lost 3rd gear altogether. But, about two weeks before that the engagement went from normal to it slamming into gear, from neutral to drive, reverse to drive, park to drive.....anything either putting it into drive, or reverse was dramatically harsher than normal.

looks like she is done....

well all that 'weirdness' had stopped about a week after my first post.. but today the eye of the storm passed.. and.. wham. I had just got off the freeway on my way home, went to press the gas, it started going, then slipped out of gear and gave me a bunch of random grinding noises, sort of like plastic gears  anyways.. uh.. I made it to the under the overpass so I wasn't in the melting sun. The flatbed arrived in less then 15 min..
