The front 60k has alrady been done for my car. I plan on doing the top 60k soon. I have new wires, plugs, gaskets, and valve lash kit ready to go in. I am just not having the courage to tackle this feat. I am afraid I am royally going to screw something up as this is my first SHO which hit 180,000 mi a week ago. I looked through the oil cap and boy does it look dirty. I have been running Mobile 1 High Mileage since I got it too. Do you guys have any words of wisdom and/or advice?

Thanks,
David

And put some shop towels in the intakes on the head, for the same reason. Just take 'em out when you are done!

The top 60k isn't that difficult - easier than the front, imho, and if you follow those excellent directions you will be fine.

X2, it's not that difficult. Tie the firewall wiring harness out of the way to provide more clearance for reinstalling the rear valve cover.

Do the valve stem seals while you are in there. You will thank yourself when you are done. Besides the Rotunda tool set, I think the only oddball tools you will need are a slide hammer and an adapter for the airhose to the spark plug hole. Dont get a huge slide hammer or you will have trouble using it on the rear seals. I just used a giant bolt threaded into the Rotunda tool for the rear seals.
IMO, the valve seals are the most PITA and tedious job of the entire 60k... but well worth it. Get yourself a good buddy and tackle the stem seals with 2 people. The first one will take you 2 hours then the last 23 will go much faster.
