I broke this out from my water pump thread as it goes deeper...

Looks like it's time (again...) to take it off the road for some major work. Since I have to do the water pump, I should probably do the timing belt and CPS so I don't get stranded somewhere due to the coolant leak. I don't plan to do any oil seals unless I see trouble.

Probably should do the rod bearings now, though it pains me with only ~2 yrs left before the car kacks, and I think my cam chain tensioner is also going (noise seems to be from that area). Sources to get the cam chain tensioner from? :confused: Obsolete, right?

...And if I'm ripping into the top end, I suppose I should do plugs and valve cover gaskets... Plug wires are original too...

Tranny is getting rough to shift sporadically but it doesn't seem like the clutch this time, so I am going to try some new fluid in there and see if that helps. If that doesn't help, I might be headed towards a tranny rebuild, which means "ditch it" to me (not worth that much work at this point and condition), but I probably still have some time before the blocker rings stop, er, "blocking" altogether... Anyone know any "Double-secret Probation" tranny additives that can help get me a few more months if/when it comes to that?

A/C is weak when it is really hot (the hotter the weather or the more stop-and-go the traffic, the worse it is), and I've already removed a shim, so it maybe just needs a new AC clutch. Still on old R12.

<sigh>

Thanks,
