too cold

I have a 92 mtx sho, during the summer it was fine except that one of the heater core lines burst. My problem now is that it runs cold or at least I think, I cant get any heat from it and on the wonderful gauge the ford gives you it reads about the "a" of normal. is this normal for this car in this area?(pennsylvania)

When your heater core is gone or the lines are busted then your heat goes bye, bye.

so the heater core is most likely shot. But how does that make the car run cold?

Have you checked your coolant level lately? I wouldn't say that the car is running too cold, my car reads in the lower part of the temp gauge, but I always have plenty of hot air. You could be low on coolant, or you could have a bunch of air in the lines, or your heater core could be bad. I would check everything else first, since heater core replacment is usually a PITA.

or your blend door actuator could be gone, causing the door to stay on the cold setting

My car always reads on the 'a' and I have heat within 3 minutes of running

Yeah, all of the SHO's I've ever had have run about "a" on normal. I thought it was just efficient cooling, haha.

I appreciate all your help, I'll check the air in the coolant and the level, I just replaced the blower control module and the eatc seems fine. aside from no heat wouldn't the heater core leak into the car if it was bad or should I be looking on the outside of the car for a leak?

Heater cores can leak, or they can plug internally. If you can't find anything else wrong, you can pull the heater lines and try to run water through the core.

feel the lines coming into and out of the core, if they both feel around the same temp, then your heater core is working, if one is hot and the other is cold or a faairly substantial difference, then it is a blocked heater core

Also run a self test on the EATC, that will tell you if you have a blend door actuator problem
