I got a set of the infamous blue Tokicos on my '90 and after sitting all winter it appears they went to crap. My question is what can I do with these or am I better off to scrap em and go a different route?

I'm the same way with my KONI. I'm keeping mine, until I find someone who can rebuild them. My friend said he could, but he's leaving US until september, so I either wait till then or ask my local machine shop if they can do it.

Sure would be nice to find out what they did to the Bondurant struts to re-valve them. And especially so if it could be done in someone's garage without too many special tools!

yes, but I think if you have original receipt, which I don't , since I bought this car with them installed and no receipts.

I'm painting my Sensatracks blue. Want them to look nice on a blue car.

On a serious note, either find replacement tokicos or buy some sensatracs.

Get in touch with your local tokico dealer,he may be able to work out a deal to refund part or all of the original purchase price.
provided you can show a reciept of some sort, even one of your own making might work.

Re-valved Shocks

From my Pro-Solo / autocross days:

True sports motorsports in Columbus Ohio (of Indycar fame) is an authorized Koni re-builder. They can re-valve them anyway you like.

Roughly $75 or $125 ea IIRC. I had my Pro Solo Z28 done, and at one point was going to get my SHO Konis compression valving softened from the original Koni Sport or yellow specs to Koni Red or street specs. The compression valving is the only difference between the two. The rebound valving is the one that is adjustable. That should soften their aggressive ride and make a better street ride / handling compromise. Stock SHO Konis are Koni Yellow valving which they call Sport. Some Porches have both Koni Red and Koni Sport as an option. The Sport valving is really a track valving that can be driven on the street in a very limited or ride compromised way. Much like a 900hp pro-street car can be street driven. The ride is very firm. Stock Sport Konis feel autocross or race track ready. No open coffee cups allowed
Where Koni Red valving is a street valving which is suitable for limited track use. Unfortunately our SHO struts were never offered with the Red valving, just the Yellow.

There was another outfit named Shock-Tek IIRC or similar that could revalve Bilstein and some other shocks, but not Konis. Maybe they could do the Tokikos.

I guess I would rank Koni Reds as similar to Tokikos, and Bondurants. Factory Motorcraft ( Sachs) struts were very close to this valving. These all have a great ride / handling compromise for the street/track. Like 911s, Vettes, and CTS-Vs.

The Koni Sports are the only ones that are stiffer than this and ignore ride quality.

All the others are much softer; Sensatraks. GR2s, etc. and favor ride quality at the expense of handling sharpness.
