Right now I have intrax springs and KYB GR2's only in the front! Don't ask me but for some reason the back struts are stock. That is the way I bought the car. Now the ride is very very bouncey. I HATE IT!! I know it is the stupid struts that are on the car. Now I wanted to here some opinions on different struts. I know that koni's are the best but I def don't have cash to fork out for them. So I was thinking about tockico's or KYB agx's. I have noticed that not many ppl run AGX's, and I don't get why. I have been in a few cars with them and I think they are great. I don't mind the stiff ride at all. I like it, just as long as it is not bouncy. I also like the AGX's becuase they are ajustable. So what do you guys think?

The reason many people dont have them (AGX's) is that last time I checked they are not made for the SHO.

REALLY!!! Opps. I think ive had to many cars. Ive had 5 in the past year. So sorry if I get some parts mixed up. Geeze's. I seriously thought that they made AGX's for SHO's. Well maybe they should. I Think I might try to contact KYB and ask them about it. Well it looks like ill get the tokico's then. How do they feel? Are they pretty stiff. Or should I save my pennys and buy konis? I don't race the car, but i would say that I drive it very ******* the street. So you think that Tokico's are suitable for me?

i only have tokicos on the back right now (due to laziness syndrome) and WOW its like night and day. very nice feel and personally i think its a good daily driver.just stiff enough for hard daily driving. I just got back from a 500 mile trip and the ride was perfect in the back. thats with moogs w/ 1 coil cut and all new bushings of course and 26 mm bar.

hmm... that is probably gona be the strut im gona go with. I can't wait to get rid of mine. They scare me!! anytime im doing anything over 60 it will bounce like crazy.

I emailed KYB about the AGX's, just waiting to hear back. I think that enough ppl would be interested in buying them. So I think they should make them.

Tokico and Eibach. Don't leave home without them.

I have redeemed tokico's lifetime warranty for a full set of struts after 150,000 miles. That was because of a single shaft seal leak prior to any effect on performance. Tokico wanted the used set back for examination.

The most surprising part of the exchangel was when I installed the new struts and could not honestly tell a difference in the ride or handling between the new struts and the 150,000 mile old ones.

Koni and Eibach if you like to have control over your ride. ;)

I have had them for over 25K miles and I still like them. No issues. I like the way I can adjust it stiff for the track, or hard driving, and then make it cushy when I take the wife and son on a long road trip.

yeah I just don't have the cash for the Koni's. I know they are great but I think that the tokico's are good enough for me. I don't want to change my springs because I love the way my car sits. It is perfect. I can hardly tell when ppl have Eibach's. They look way to stock. And I heard that there is not to much of a difference between Eibach's and Intrax's. Because they are both progressive rate springs, I heard they both perform about the same.

Tokico's are good and easy to install. You don’t have to worry about having the proper length shock tube as you do when installing koni's. Adjustability is great but I would say 95% of people who have adjustable shocks have no idea what adjusting them will do to handling (beyond ride harshness.)

yeah that is true.. My brother has never touched his AGX's. I mean they work really good for on the street. They keep the car planted in the corners but arn't to harsh to ride on all day. But anyway im just gona go with the Tokico's. Them seem like a good deal, and ive never heard anything bad from them.

I would say that NJSHO is correct about most drivers not knowing about how to use the Konis properly. Also, the Konis do take a little bit of time to install, about an extra 30 minutes per strut if you work slow (note: most shops won't do it for you). If you like a get it and forget it type of ride, then the Tokicos are the way to go. As for the "worrying" about getting the right Koni:

Fronts 8641-1287-S all years
Rears 8641-1288-S 89-92
Rears 8641-1323-S 6/92-95
As for the springs, I can attest to 4 of the 5 main types/brands of springs being noticably different. Stock is good for the everyday driver and someone who doesn't want to sacrifice any comfort for handling. Eibachs are the closest to stock yes, but still offer a much firmer ride and a bit of a lower ride height (about 1" front .75" rear IIRC). Intrax are stiff, too stiff for my liking for street driving, but excelent for the track and do lower the car more than the Eibachs (about 1.5" front and 1" rear). Coilovers are rediculously harsh and awful for street driving (ie - bouncing honda). I do not have any experience with the SHOShop linears.

As for the spring rates/types. The stock ones are not progressive (200 lbs/in. front and 160 lbs/in. rear). Eibachs are progressive (150-260 lbs/in, rear spring rate is 150-194 lbs/in). Intrax are also progressive (I couldn't find any specs, only found that they are ~20% stiffer than stock). Coilovers usually have over 400 lbs/in IIRC.

Price: How much did you find your Tokicos for? I got my Koni's for $520 shipped.

FWIW - I'm not saying that you should get any of the items I've talked about, just letting you know the details. :thumb:

Anywho, I'm done. ;)

As a Tokico user that just put them on the front only of my car yesterday, I am very happy with the performance so far. I dont have the wave effect going over speed bumps or rail road tracks anymore. I cant wait for the rear ones to get done now.

if your willing to spend the money for tokico's you can get Koni for about 20 bucks more. I went with 4 tokico's and they are GREAT in my mine. they arent quite as stiff but very close. and they are stiff enough for track use. this question comes down to personal want. do you want a adjustable shock or not. do you want to have to take apart your old shocks so you can put in the Koni's. so really your best choices are Koni and Tokico. with only about a 20 dollar difference
