Okay I'm a very impatient person and Impatient because of crappy shipping is one thing I hate being. Here's the situation. I ordered a set of ground control coilovers, blue taylor wires, and reinforced rear strut mounts from MidwestSHO in mid march. They aren't here yet. He says they were shipped out express. Anyways don't know where they are but I want my car lowered and handling better. I already have Intrax with KYB's and it handles good but not as good as it could. I hate wheel well gap with a passion and I want it gone from my car. I have stacks of new suspension components and goodies waiting to be installed as seen in a prior post. I will be buying a set of konis to install in my current KYB gr-2 housings and install in my Ground Control coilovers when they finally arrive.

I have a brand new set of tokicos sitting waiting to be put into action. I was going to use them with my new coilovers but they aren't here. I have everything I need for a thorough install that would make all of you proud.

I want to get my install started soon so I am going to use my fairly new Intrax springs with my brand new Tokicos. My questions are as follows:
1. How good is this combo? I see alot of you running it. How does it fare up to hard and normal driving? Good at the track?
2. I want it low so I'm going to cut a coil or 2 for the desired height. Which coils do I cut? Upper or lower?
3. Lowering the strut in the knuckle is also what I will be doing to help out. This okay? How far can I drop it in the knuckle safely?
4. I bought some prosuspension camber adjustment mounts which look shorter than the stock units. Will these affect the height of my car?

Here is what my car looks like right now with the new wheels(Enkei J10 18") installed. Sorry for the low res pix, used my cell camera as it was all I had on me.

Are you still in Italy? If so, I'd have to believe that'd have an awful lot to do with the "delay"... While I was stationed overseas it took forever to get stuff I'd ordered from the states, or seemed to anyway

Your car looks great the way it is! Have fun with those coilovers :thumb:

Yes i'm still in italy. I've ordered close to a 1000 things since I've been here. 95% of those things get here in 7-10 days if shipped via USPS Priority mail. Now if somebody were to ship via regualr parcel post it can take anywhere from 1-2 months due to the fact that they are shipped via ground to cargo ship and that takes forever. Priority comes via air and can get here as quickly as 4 days like my wheels did. Main thing is that I paid for priority and they aren't here yet. almost 2 months in the waiting. I emailed Mike and he said that he sent them express. Huh? Express what, Ground? anyways i will call him up on monday and see what I can work out with him. But thanx for the compliments on the car as it is my baby.

Check out Josh's writeup on strut tower bushings and bearings, it's on the SHO NUT web site. You have your parts bought or ordered already, but you might get some more ideas on lowering by reading it. Summary is, different part number bearings and bushings have different installed height. Depending on what parts you install, you can slightly affect the ride height. Good luck, very nice car. :thumb:

I am running Intrax/tokicos. I don't think that the strut will work with a shorter spring cut one or two coils. A coil over set up would probably be better for you.
I don't think that you will be able to alighn the car either anywhere near stock.
In fact if you don't use the camber kit with the stock Intrax springs you will be about 2-1/2 degrees negative camber (that's what I measured). If you use the washer (with the camber kit) marked 1/2, with the uncut intrax that will give you approximately 1/2 degree negative camber. That's just about where you want to be with the front. The washers are easy enough to change if you want more or less camber.
If you turn the tie rods out three full turns it will put you about 1/16 to 1/8 total toe in.
I'd recommend you try the car this way before you cut any coils. The car is noticably lower then stock with this set up and shows noticably better cornering bite with it.
Also with springs cut that much you will have no hope of keeping the front spings and the strut bearing seats together. You would have to use a NASCAR type spring retaining strap, designed and built by you for you.
Goodluck on that one.

I had tokico intrax on greenbean and it was great until the springs broke in and then it had a very very firm ride that got uncomfortable for daily driving. I wouldnt advice cutting any coils on them because i didnt on mine and i used to own a corvette so clearing driveways and such was something i had to be careful with on the vette. I thought that the sho would be a joke in comparison but i scraped the nose a couple times with the intrax on there and that was with no cutoff coils. If you go with intrax you might want to leave them uncut first and see what you think once they break in. Im glad i didnt cut mine.

Rockford Illinois statistically has the worst roads in the country. I will be cutting a coil in the front, and lowering the strut in the knuckle in the rear. Slammed in the weeds, I say.

i also have the intrax springs, i will not be driving my car very much and i would like it to be lower in the front, if i cut the coil will it still stay on the strut securely or will it be able to bounce up and down?

Well my car isnt that low and I have Intrax and KYB-GR2's. It pogo's like a **** and sits too high. I've ditched the cutting Idea and I am currently waiting on my coilovers, rear upper HD strut mounts, and Blue plug wires. I've been waiting on the Coilovers for 3+ months now. He even sent a second shipment out incase the first got lost. NADA!

mine doesn't pogo that much but then again I don't go over any bumps very fast at all.. having no clearance under the front bumper I'll scrape while driving 10+ over a dip/bump so I have to go slow and angled over most things.. :nut:
