Anyone that has had a TOB destroy their pressure plate, did your SHO make any kind of noises before it died?

I did my clutch and transmission a while back, and from day 1 it has always made a rattling tapping noise- and now that its cold out my car sounds like a POS when idling. The old clutch never did this. I'm afraid it might be a defective TOB slowly killing my PP, but I would imagine that would sound more like a grinding type noise. If I step on the clutch, the noise goes away. If I stomp and release the clutch a couple times and hit it just right, the noise stops.

When you replaced the quill sleeve did the locking tabs lock? Did you use loctite?

SHOhopefull,
No does not sound that bad! kinda sounds like marbles rolling around I guess would describe it.

The quill sleeve was a huge pain getting on. The locking tabs locked, and I forgot to use loctite; but it rattled the very first time I started it after the job so I don't think it came loose.

I thought my pressure plate broke a strap or somethin because of chatter (noise) and vibration. Turns out the diff pin was on its way out.

Well if the locking tabs locked in you dont need to use loctite allthough it wouldnt hurt if you did. Honestly i wouldnt worry about it because i a have a revision b tob with a stage 2 southbend clutch and i can here in rattle only if im sitting in a drive through or something like that but very faintly.

You did it wrong. Sure you might be able to get by without it, but that doesn't change the fact that you're supposed to use it.
