Well im taking the SHO in to get welded in a couple weeks and replacing the plugs too. I want to clean out the intake runners and surge tanks but have no clue what to use. Should i use a engine cleaner with them on the car or use some kind of de-greasing solution and run it through them with them off while being welded? Also, what are you guys using to insulate the main wiring harness from the heat? How hard is it to take off the IMRC...will i need new gaskets if i take it off? How do i clean that? If you guys could help me out with all this, it would be great!!! Thanks!

You're going to have to pull the intake off the car to clean it. You might as well clean it then. Don't even think about doing it with the intake on the car. That's not going to be good for the car. The best cleaners are Berryman's B12 and the Brakekleen in the green can. The Berryman's is so strong that it will remove the paint from the outside of the runners.

It's really not too hard to do. There's lots of tips on v8sho.com

Someone that Ryan Dudek is sending me to up here in Michigan. If i go with the brakekleen stuff, do i just spray it in and swish it around? How hard is it to pull the IMRC? will i need to replace the gaskets when do this? Do I use the same stuff to clean those?

If the stuff on the IRM is hard carbon it will take some elbow grease to get it off. The runners and surge tank and horns should come off with the spray. You can use the paste type paint remover for the hard carbon. Works great.

I reuse my gaskets. Spray on some clear engine paint and assemble the parts while the paint is still wet.

SO just spray the cleaner in and it will dissolve the oil away in the runners and surger tanks? What did you use to scrub the carbon deposits away in the IMRC...SOS pads? Thanks for any help!

The hard carbon I use the paint remover and a small paint brush. Goop it up good and apply several coats while working with the brush. Then rinse with water and blow dry.
