I've searched and haven't been able to find an answer. I will need a new set of tires before winter. I live in northern Utah. We see a fair amount of snow. My budget will not allow for two sets of tires--snow and summer tires. I need recommendations on a good set of all-season performance tires. I don't drive hard all the time, but when I do I push the car. I have no idea where to start looking. Thanks for the help.

Check out www.tirerack.com I'm in the same boat you are, too poor for 2 sets of tires, so I'm also looking for a good set of all-season performance rubber. I'm currently leaning towards the Goodyear Eagle GT-HR . It's a new tire on the market, and looks to be a pretty good all-around tire. And for $78 a tire, a pretty good bargain. thumb

The Tire Rack has the most extensive testing, comparisons and buyer testimonials. If you're running on stock wheels, I'd personally go for Continental ContiExtremeContacts. thumb

Let me help. I already talked with Tirerack about the same thing. They recommended the Dunlop P5000 for agressive driving. I wanted to go with the Conti Extreme Contact, but they didn't have them in our size and they said the tire "hasn't been proven" yet. Since it is a relatively new tire, there has not been enough feedback to give it a firm rating. However, I checked with Tires.com and they had the Extreme Contact rated at 4.5 out of 5 stars in almost every category, to include driving in light snow. All the customer feedback indicated the tire was doing well. Also it had the highest treadwear rating of all the tires I looked at in the high performance category. I have the P5000 because Tirerack did not have the Extreme Contact on hand. They were $10 more each. You can get the Extreme Contact for like $78 per tire. A good deal as far as I can tell. Of course, you could go with the Tirerack recommendation and get a proven tire like the P5000 for $89 each and you're still getting a very good deal.

I recently purchased the Pirelli P7000 Supersports from Tirerack.com. These tires are listed as Ultra High Performance All Seasons. Everything said that they were good in light snow. And me living in Illinois, I'll be seeing snow, but its not like they dont clear the roads. They have a real aggressive looking tread, and so far, I have not come accross any problem. I got 225/55/16's so they are a little wider, and I dont know how much that helps, but they look alot better than the 215/60's that were on there. They might be a little expensive though at $108/ea.

DA@$@$$! Those ^%&#'s! That's alright. I'm sure I'll be happy with these considering I'm only going to use them for about another year (getting 17's then) when I get back to the USA. Then I'll get the Conti Extreme Contact! I wanted to go with the Plus1 size too, but I am installing my Intrax/Koni's this month and that size would rub the strut bumpers bare. Good luck with your purchase and if you get the Extreme Contacts let me know how they turn out.
